Alloyfish brand development. {Part 1}

I get asked about this fairly often so I thought that I would write a little bit about why we chose to use Alloyfish as a name for our company.

When looking for company names, we literally had hundreds of ideas, and also we decided that we wanted www.ourname.com if possible to give a professional and established feel, and also buy .co.uk equivalents.

We played with a variety of names which were rejected for various reasons, the names which met the domain name criteria and had 'something extra' reached a later stage of development were; babyFIRE.com, blackbaboon.com, dreamsmith.co.uk, redracoon.com, cloudsixtyfive.com and of course, Alloyfish.com.

Out of many of these names came Alloyfish and the reasons for its choice came down to the following reasons:

1. Our company is like a tool box of people with very different skill sets, but the core material (People, working hard) is always going to be central. An Alloy is a metal that is comprised of more than one metal, resulting in a stronger, better, or lighter material depending on how the metal has been formulated.

2. We wanted a brand with a personality, and the fish grew on us. Graphically it can be as simple or  as complex as we wish, there is great freedom with colour and the  and potential for a fish theme in a business environment could go pretty much anywhere we wanted.
