Copyright Guidelines
These guidelines are not part of our policy but are an indication of the types of usage and reference which we feel to be appropriate.
The following limited uses are generally considered appropriate by Alloyfish Limited:
- Display within a presentation slide to be used only within an educational institution accredited by the government of the country within which the slide is to be displayed.
- Critical commentary provided the commentary which specifically refers to the extract of copyright content is significantly longer than the extract (fair use).
- Display of a thumbnail of any complete webpage so long as that thumbnail does not exceed 200 pixels in height and 200 pixels in width.
- Data required for indexing in a search engine and displaying search engine results pages provided that all reasonable steps are taken to ensure that web crawlers and search engine bots are denied access to those search engine results pages.
- Republication of any articles available at Alloyfish Limited without written license. This is a serious issue as our articles are a business asset the republication of which is associated with payment of significant licensing fees.
- Reproduction of strings of text without accompanying critical analysis (not fair use). We actively search for such strings and frequently take action to stop this.
- Use of Alloyfish brand identification or the Alloyfish logo or any other Alloyfish graphical elements in any form other than a single logo to accompany an extended article which discusses Alloyfish in depth.
- Use of the colour scheme or choice of fonts or layout from any page or any part of any website to which Alloyfish holds the copyright without express authorisation.
